AI applications often bind the experience to a model endpoint and reconstruct context for each conversation. Friday Native puts a continuing runtime above the model executing a task.

Identity, memory, state, governance and tools belong to that runtime. Models become replaceable execution substrates.

Local-first does not mean local-only.

A quick interaction and a deep reasoning task need not run in the same place. Model selection, hardware and data boundaries should be explicit choices.

TODAY Our development stack runs local and cloud model endpoints with explicit routing. Friday Native is not yet generally available.

RESEARCH Hardware-aware scheduling, distributed cognition, and latent or KV-state transfer remain active LAILA NEXT research, rather than finished migration features.

The architecture underneath Friday Native.

A research program exploring how a continuing AI system can route work, remember, deliberate asynchronously and operate across execution environments.

Adaptive routing and durable memory inform the runtime design. Governed self-improvement, distributed cognition, hardware-aware scheduling and latent/KV-state portability are experimental directions.
